Destined for a Divine Christmas

Fearlessness
A pure-thinking heart
Staying on the yoga path of wisdom
Always giving generously
Control of the senses
A desire to study scriptures
Discipline
Straightforwardness
Not causing pain to others
Truthfulness
Always peaceful
Selflessness
Never speaking falsely of others
Compassion for all beings
Not coveting what others have
Gentleness; Modesty
Full of vigor
Always forgiving
Courageous in adversity
Pure of body and mind
No hatred toward anyone
And never puffed up with pride.

These are the qualities,
Arjuna, of a man or woman
destined for a divine life.

AND A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Even though the list is a long one, if you develop even one of these qualities to the fullest extent, automatically you see the other qualities coming. Let any one lead; the others will follow because they are all links in a chain.
Bhagavad Gita 16.1-3

  1. Everyone, I wish you all a happy and healthy New Year. I think 2010 will be quite fabulous! Over the holidays I watched my all-time-favorite movie “Harold and Maude” for the fiftieth time. I don’t know if any of you have ever seen it, but I highly recommend a viewing. It is an intelligent black comedy about a death-obsessed young man and his friendship with a wise and vivacious elderly woman. Watching this time, I was struck by some of the similarities to the Bhagavad Gita! Harold is a despondent Arjuna, avoiding the “battle” of life. He meets his Krishna in Maude, who shows Harold his true destiny. Maude is wonderfully enlightened and full of profound statements. Plus, it has an excellent soundtrack – all Cat Stevens. Anyway, just thought I’d share with y’all. Be good! Until next weekend…M2
