Benefits of Pranayama

Then sit and calm the mind and senses by concentrating on one thing: thus you practice Yoga (Meditation) for self-purification. Bhagavad Gita 6:12

Pranayama is a purifying practice. It cleanses our body and awakens our mind. It helps control the waves of our mind through the regulation of prana. When we learn to regulate the prana and make it function more optimally, we unlock the gateway to the subtle realm of self-healing, mastery of the mind and spiritual unfoldment.
Benefits of Pranayama:

* Drinking in gallons of vitality and immunity
* Supercharges the blood with extra oxygen
* The whole body vibrates with new life.
* Produces lightness of the body, alertness of the mind and sound sleep
* Eliminates sinus discomfort
* Exhilarates the blood circulation and stimulates the entire body

EnJOY.

  1. "Breathe...and everything changes." As often as I can remember to, I repeat that to myself. Works in asana and life.
    I have happily survived Italy and less happily survived jet lag. I'm borrowing the following from my travel book, because, well, I couldn't say it better myself:
    "Il dolce far niente. The "sweetness of doing nothing" has long been an art form in Italy. This is a country in which life's pleasures are warmly celebrated, not guiltily indulged. Of course, doing "nothing" doesn't really mean nothing. It means doing things differently. It means lingering over a glass of wine for the better part of an evening just to watch the sun slowly set. It means savoring a slow evening stroll along the main street of a little town, a procession with no destination other than the town and its streets. And it means making a commitment-however temporary-to thinking, feeling, and believing that there is nowhere you have to be next, that there is no other time than the magical present."
    Hope you are all enjoying your "magical present!"

  2. It's so usefull, specially in fall time! Have a nice week everyone.
    Pranayama is a boon for those who suffer from lung based diseases especially asthma or bronchitis as the lung capacity is many times increased if Pranayama is practiced regularly. Pranayama can also retard and reverse the effects of lung damage in smokers.

  3. I notice the effects of practicing pranayama immediatley. Very calming for my intense at times anxiety filled self. My daily practice is the only thing keeping me going right now. Im instilling FAITH more now than ever to get me through. My schedule is FULL and I just have to keep walking and breathing. The semester is nearing the end, but the storm is always the worst right before it ends. The storm before the calm? Need to cultivate and conserve my pranayama. Muhla Bundha or whatever that is...Shanti
