Your practice must be done correctly, For then a firm foundation is laid.
Sutra 1.14c
"You see, the point is not what the pose looks like in the end, to someone watching you. It's the process of the pose as it goes on, it's what it does inside of you: how it works to begin to straighten and open your channels. But if you don't do the pose right, if you cheat, if you try to trick the pose and get around it just so you look good, then the pose doesn't work on you the way it's supposed to. It's what you can do now, if you do it right. And that lays a firm foundation to build from. We are here to make you healthy, not to make sure you can touch your head to your knees."
Chapter 5 - How Yoga Works
I really enjoyed reading the latest blog from Vicki. More and more I'm learning the gift of the process rather than the result. Once I started to really observe my words, actions and life in general, I became aware of how important the process is. Take for example my daughter. I may try to teach her a skill, or get her to take a nap or get her to not have a temper tantrum. The result is what I've been interested in and though it's important in the moment, the process by which I get us there is so much more significant.

ReplyDeletebefore contemplation/meditation. Before our weekend on "mindfulness", I did not spend much time nor used the same methods we learned. This past week I have used Nadi Sudhi, OM and Sankulpa for my mindfulness practice. I have found the "beauty" of hearing and being connected to the vibration of the universe. My goal of mindfulness is to let go of self-interest and to surrender to God/the Divine. It is a process, a friendship going on with Christ/the Divine that is tangible -- not a one-way street. If we listen we are invited to receive the "Divine hospitality" of God. The sense of God's constant love that is received heals us and inspires us to heal others. Asana everyday, and Nadi Sudhi really works! I can feel my system calming. Sonja, what a beautiful message.:)I have enjoyed and am really noticing the effects of re confirming my discipline to my physical practice. It like you cannot climb a mountain without putting on your hinikn shoes and making sure you have all the appropriate gear. You cannot get to the top and get that 36o view without proper preparation. Om Namah Shivaya.
